Boil Order & Conservation Order Now Lifted – 9.29.22

Boil Order Lifted on 9.29.22The boil order and conservation orders lifted. Thank you for being so patient as we worked to restore water service.
We, the City of Moscow Mills, are thankful for the diligence of our crews working behind the scenes in fixing the critical water crisis. We leaned into every known resource available to us. Like every other business and household, we are subject to supply chain issues. This was an extremely stressful and trying time.
We are incredibly grateful to the citizens who complied with efforts to conserve water during this difficult time. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to share timely and essential information and check on friends and neighbors.
Currently, we have an auxiliary pump working in place of the damaged pumps, and redundancies are being worked on as second and third backups.

Boil Order Until 9/29/22

Boil Order until 9/29/22 at Noon

‼️ UPDATE 9/27/22 6:28 pm ‼️
Tonight, the City’s water towers depleted their supply. As a result, effective immediately, the City of Moscow Mills is under a boil water order until Thursday, September 29th at noon. The city urges residents to conserve as much water as possible by eliminating outside watering, car washing, or power washing.
Today, our crews attempted to replace the pumps and motor at the Mette Road Water Tower. The boil order is a result of this unsuccessful attempt at a solution in combination with city water consumption levels.
Our crew is currently re-installing the original pumps to restore water levels overnight. Tomorrow, we will install an auxiliary pump to bypass the current pumps until the necessary new parts arrive. We thank you for your patience during this trying time.

City urges water conservation

UPDATE September 26, 2022:
As the City continues to monitor water systems and awaits the arrival of critical components necessary for a sufficient backup system, we request residents conserve water.
The water system is very fragile and usage can outpace production. This will continue until the critical parts arrive to rebuild the primary water pumps. Without water conservation, the possibility exists that the water levels in the towers will fall short prompting another boil order.
The City urges citizens to conserve water, which includes eliminating outside watering and car washing. We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.

Water system update on 9/23/22

📌Update 9:05 am on 9/23/22📌
One of the critical parts necessary for a sufficient backup system is scheduled to arrive in two weeks. The City remains in a boil order through 9/24/22 and requests residents eliminate outside water and car washing to conserve water. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

UPDATE on City Water

📌 UPDATE 9:13 am, September 22, 2022 📌
We appreciate your everyone’s patience. We are continuing to work on the water issue. We ask city residents to continue to conserve water (ie: outside watering, car washing). The water pressure is continuing to rise. The City is currently above the minimum pounds per pressure required by the Department of Natural Resources. Because the city dropped below the minimum pressure required last night, a boil water is in effect IMMEDIATELY until noon on Saturday, September 24.
The planned maintenance continues and the Mette Road Tower is filling early next week. We are still waiting on the parts that will allow us to have a sufficient backup system.

Full water system failure

The City of Moscow Mills has progressed to a full failure of the Water System in our City. Due to the failure, we are alerting the public to the fact that we will be without water very soon. It is expected that we will have the water back pumping again by midnight if we can locate the parts. Once the plant goes back into operation the City will require a mandatory Boil Order until noon on Saturday, September 24th. The Boil Order is citywide and will provide insurance that the water is safe to drink. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience.

Water Conservation Order Through 9.23.22

The order is in effect until 9/23/22 at 5 pm

Effective immediately, the City of Moscow Mills is implementing a Water ConservationOrder due to equipment failures. Please read Mayor Patrick Flannigan’s notice to the public below.

To: All Affected Residents in the City of Moscow Mills.
Water Conservation Notice

Dear Resident:
The City has experienced a partial failure of the Water System in our City. Due to the
failure of a couple of pieces of equipment at our Mette Road Water Tower, we find it
necessary to curb our outside water consumption. Please do not water your grass,
wash your cars or perform any outside usage of water. The repair of the failed
equipment is being exacerbated by supply chain issues to provide parts. In addition,
the Mette Road tower is empty due to regular maintenance (Painting). It probably will
not be filled until next week.
The Conservation order is necessary to make sure we have adequate water to supply
our homes until the emergency passes. I’m sure most will automatically comply but I
would like to let those who wish to challenge the Order that MDNR (Missouri
Department of Natural Resources) provides the City with the proper authority to execute
such an order and we can take the necessary measures to ensure compliance.
The order will expire at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 23rd . Again, we are sorry for the
inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Patrick Flannigan
Mayor
