Complaints

If you would like to make a complaint about dissatisfactory service, please follow these instructions:

Complaints against department members may be accepted on a formal or informal basis.

Informal complaints: If your complaint consists of conduct that would not violate department policy or applicable law, your complaint may be handled informally. Please contact an on-duty supervisor, if available, or the Chief of Police by phone or email.

Formal complaints: If your complaint consists of conduct that would violate department policy or applicable law, you must make a formal complaint. While you may initiate the process by calling or sending an email to the Chief of Police, the complaint must ultimately be received in writing and in person, if possible. Anonymous formal complaints will not be accepted because it is not possible to fully and fairly investigate such complaints.

Please download and complete the below complaint form prior to your appointment:

Citizen Complaint

Complaints must be made by the actual recipient of police misconduct, a person who witnessed the incident, or parents/legal guardians making complaints on behalf of minors.
