Storm Sirens Now Functional

Over the past month, there have been issues with the City of Moscow Mills storm warning sirens. On several occasions during regular monthly testing, the sirens failed to function properly. Our current warning sirens are nearly 14 years old. After several repair attempts it was discovered that the problem lay in a signal frequency issue between dispatching and the sirens. That has now been addressed and the sirens are fully functional.

While the repairs have been effective, I still plan on requesting Board of Aldermen approvalĀ to apply for grants from either FEMA or SEMA to purchase new, digital sirens this coming fall. These have the advantage of being self-contained with no moving parts. The batteries are charged by solar panels so no direction connection to electrical power is necessary.
